Balgores School Consultation

The proposed school is to be located in the northern part of the site with the southern part retained as open playfields and a multi use games area.

The site is surrounded by two storey semi detached houses and to respect this scale the proposed school is also kept to a maximum of two storeys. The siting of the building ensures a setback from the shared boundaries allowing space for landscaping and to prevent overlooking and overshadowing.

On the small frontage along Balgores Lane, the proposed design provides a civic presence. To achieve this the massing has been brought closer to Balgores Lane. In addition, the width of the building mass has responded to the surrounding residential context.

To the north, the site borders Heath Park Allotments. To minimize light loss, the car park is placed along this boundary, keeping the building approximately 40m away.
