Play Space and Landscaping
The landscape proposals have been developed to provide a wide range of external spaces to relate to the various requirements of the school and the specific needs of the pupils.
The landscaping has been designed in tandem with the architectural layout, with the external spaces carefully arranged to provide the privacy, security and care that the children need.
Primary, Secondary and Post Sixteen pupils will all have access to a range of spaces including secure transitional spaces closer to the building and wider areas of soft and hard landscaped spaces providing both passive, social and active play.
More formal areas for sport will be provided to the south of the site including a grass pitch and multi use games areas. These facilities will also be available for use by Squirrels Heath Junior School and out of school hours by the wider community.
The landscape design will retain and enhance the existing landscape of the site providing a green woodland buffer to the development, with swathes of planting within the site. Planting will be used throughout the scheme to soften, screen and calm, enhancing the sensory experience for the children and green aesthetic for the school. The landscaping will seek to enhance the sites ecology and biodiversity.
